Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, producer, and soon to be mother Victoria Monét is back with sultry new track ”F.U.C.K.” Written by Monét and produced by longtime collaborator D’Mile, the new track mark her first musical release of 2021. In the sultry hook, Victoria tells you what the title stands for:
Is your favorite color blue? ‘Cause you’re somethin’ like my kryptonite. I think I want you to maybe meet me at my crib tonight./ Might not be the one but I’m definitely the prototype. Let’s get down and get it on the floor, floor./ I wanna be a friend you can keep (F.U.C.K., yeah, a friend you can keep, oh, oh)./ I wanna be a friend you can keep (F.U.C.K., yeah, a friend you can keep, oh, oh).
The song represents Monét’s view on how people approach many situations these days. “‘F.U.C.K.’ is a nod to the millennial and gen Z mindset. We do not have to be confined to traditional commitment ideals, and instead, embody the freedom to be intimate when and with whom we mutually, please!” she says via press release. “I wanted to give that non-binding friendship intimacy an official name…the way we see it, if you’re never in a relationship, you technically can never break up. It’s forever fun, it’s playful, it happens. So…F.U.C.K. it!”
“F.U.C.K.” is the first release to follow critically heralded project JAGUAR, Monét’s 2020 independent project released via Platoon. Back in October, she linked up with Kehlani to release the official remix of “Touch Me.” The original “Touch Me” is the finale track off of Victoria Monét’s August project JAGUAR. When she’s not shining in front of the mic, her pen is still busy working. Monét is responsible for some of chart-topping hits, penning recently for artists like Chloe X Halle and Selena Gomez. She was nominated for four awards at this year’s Grammy Awards for her work on Ariana Grande’s thank u, next.
