Last week, SL dropped off his latest single “Playtime,” an A6ix and Kharidyer-produced effort that sees him rapping about sexual escapades, incarcerated loved ones, various vices, and more:
“Me gettin’ locked was a daily event, opp on the block, we go crazy on them, heard he got grabbed so we took it and went, give it a second, go do it again, how you say juggin’ is dead? Go on, give it your best, smoke hella strains to the brain, I will not go for a MRI test, if they ask why I kept going and going, told ‘em ‘cause I could not live like the rest, if they ask how he done got all that money, tell ‘em I done it without a finesse…”
“Playtime” also comes with a matching visual courtesy of Teeeezy C that seems to put a special twist on Toy Story, beginning with a kid in his bedroom full of SL action figures. The Croydon emcee continuously comes to life, and can also be seen riding a 16-wheeler, getting his old school whipped washed by eye candy, and more throughout.
Last year, SL teamed up with American producer Kenny Beats for the EP Selhurst SE25, which saw four cuts and a single assist from Coventry star Pa Salieu. Months later, he would keep up that momentum with the full-length effort Different Dude, a 10-track body of work with features from Ayo Britain, Unknown T, and Nafe Smallz. Since then, the masked rapper has contributed to tracks like Wretch 32’s “Next Door” and Avelino’s “Waze” — back in April, he teamed up with M1llionz for the hard-hitting drill cut “Versus,” which (with the addition of “Playtime”) means a new body of work from SL lies in our near future.
