The work chemistry between Cardi B & Halle Berry has been nothing short of amazing. Their wittiness along with the creativity has certainly heightened everyone’s anticipation for the newly released soundtrack for the Netflix film Bruised. Halle Berry makes her directorial debut with the film, which sees the actress starring as a disgraced MMA fighter who gets back into the ring after her infant son becomes a part of her life again. Berry wanted a powerful roster of women to tackle the soundtrack for the movie, and she enlisted Cardi B to record the original song “Bet It” and co-executive-produce the body of work.
In a recent sit-down between the two, Berry says one of the connections she had with Cardi B was the fact that they are both women of color who are used to having to fight to get what they want. “We’re used to fighting,” Berry said. “We’re on the bottom rung. I think fighting is somewhat second nature.” She also joked that Cardi should have asked her to be in the music video for “WAP” to make a collaboration between them happen sooner. “If I could’ve been in WAP, that would’ve been great,” Berry said. “Cardi, you should’ve asked me to be in WAP.”
Cardi has also been slowly making her entrance into the film industry and she gave fans an idea of what to expect from her upcoming movie, Assisted Living, where she’ll star as a grandmother. “It’s gonna be a funny movie, but it’s not gonna be cheesy. I feel like a lot of movies sometimes can be translated into cheesy and corny. I gotta do prosthetics all day,”
The soundtrack is a powerhouse with features from Cardi B, Saweetie, City Girls, Rapsody, Erica Banks, Latto, H.E.R., Flo Milli and more! Check out the Bruised soundtrack now and be sure to watch the film once it hits Netflix on November 24th.
