Today (Oct. 22), Quavo is back with his latest single “Strub Tha Streets” featuring his QC labelmate Yung Mami of the City Girls. For the last few months, Quavo was still sailing off the release of Migos’ long-awaited third installment of their Culture series, which boasts 24 cuts and a slew of collaborations alongside Drake, Migos, Cardi B, Justin Bieber, Juice WRLD, Pop Smoke, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and more. That project peaked at the number two spot on the Billboard 200 chart, only falling behind Polo G’s well-received third album Hall of Fame.
In terms of other collaborations from the Huncho, he also recently linked up with HVME and 24kGoldn for their “Alright” collaboration track, landed on the late Pop Smoke’s album on their “Shoot For The Moon” song and also on the following album Faith on the track “Back Door” alongside Kodak Black.
Last year, City Girls dropped off their sophomore studio album City on Lock, which saw 15-tracks and notable appearances from Doja Cat, Yo Gotti, Lil Durk, and Lil Baby. It was on this album that “Twerkulator” was originally meant to appear — unfortunately, JT revealed on social media that clearance issues caused it to be shelved for that moment. Either way, the girls made sure to make a moment out of the hit by enjoying its viral moments and releasing a music video that boasted direction from Missy Elliott.
In one of his only interviews from this year, Quavo delved into how life is now after the Migos reached A-list celebrity status. According to him, not much has changed and it still feels like the fun early days. “It’s fun to tell y’all what we been up to in the music,” he assures. “We always on them times mentally. We always on them time when we away from each other and together back on the North. I just feel like it’s going to all be in the music.”
Be sure to press play on Quavo’s brand new single “Thrub Tha Ground” featuring Yung Miami.
