Nashville artist Bren Joy is still sailing off the release of last year’s Twenties EP, which saw eight tracks and a single feature from Landon Sears. Back in June, the Warner Records-signed artist liberated his new single “Freezing,” which is produced by Jamie Moore and sees the R&B rising star singing about taking risks when it comes to your dreams and wishes:

“So I, I think I’m gonna go’n and jump on in, even if the water’s still freezing, I, I think I’m gonna go’n and freefall/

Cannonball right into the deep end, I know that there’s a chance that I could drown, but you’re the only thing that I can think about/

So I, I think I’m gonna go’n and jump on in, even if the water’s still freezing…/”

The visual comes courtesy of Nathan Smith and shows the artist enjoying some time in his blow-up swimming pool. He and his neighbors can also be seen in different locations enjoying what looks like a perfect summer day.

Via press release, Bren Joy further explained the meaning behind the new single:

“‘Freezing’ is about taking the initiative. It’s about taking a leap of faith into what you want to be and achieve. I want my fans to take away that too much is never enough. I think all of my music rides the line between ‘more is more’ with a splash of nostalgia. That’s my goal.”

Back in June, Bren Joy inked a new deal with Warner Records. In the same press release, Bren Joy also spoke on what fans can expect from his upcoming album:

“I want it to be a storybook from top to bottom, and I’m taking my time to make sure everything—the visuals to the artwork to the songs to the production—is gorgeous. I could put out a new album today if I wanted to, but I want people to hear the growth, just top to bottom.”
