Much of Dave East’s still blossoming career has been plagued by loss, somethings that his fans are more than aware of thanks to the honestly in his music. Unfortunately, this past May saw the passing of another, Queensbridge rapper Kiing Shooter, which prompted the tribute track “My Loc,” which sees Dave East reminiscing on his history with the fallen soldier:

“You was my Loc, I used to argue with you, we was used to taking losses, ran it up, I started balling with you/

The whole hood cried when you died, that’s what you call official, forever on my mental, my Thut, just know I’ll always miss you…/”

The Dee C-produced cut also sees an accompanying visual, which mixes scenes of Dave East in the cemetery with footage of the Harlem star and Kiing Shooter bonding during East’s Survival tour. The clip comes courtesy of Max Comfort and Brittany Brand.

“My Loc” follows previously released visuals for “Handsome,” “Believe It Or Not,” and “Menace,” all of which is presumed to belong on Dave East’s forthcoming project Karma 3: Thoughts of a Menace, which fans can hopefully expect before year’s end. Karma 3 will follow Karma and Karma 2, released in 2018 and 2018, respectively. The third installment may or may not also act as Dave East’s official sophomore LP, following his big label debut album Survival last November.

Recently, Dave East was also spotted in Los Angeles filming another visual, and ended up connecting with J. Cole and DMX in the process. Hopefully, this means that collaborations between the three are due to make landfall in the near future — especially in regards to Cole, who’s currently putting the final touches on his soon-come album The Fall Off.
