It’s been three years since the release of Chronixx’s debut studio LP Chronology, which landed at the top of Billboard’s US Reggae Albums chart. Now, he’s gearing up for the release of his forthcoming follow-up Dela Splash, which will boast the recently released singles “Dela Move” and the Kabaka Pyramid-assisted “Same Prayer.” Now, he blesses the world with another single titled “COOL AS THE BREEZE/FRIDAY,” which sees production from Pantha and gives the perfect summer vibe:
“General a general and when wi touch di road, mi an mi empress an mi bredda dem nuh roll wid nuh stranger/
Herbs pretty like a emerald, no one pound, a several in the chalice, puff it up mek Babylon see the vapour/
Tell yuh dem nuh ready fi di energy wi bringing, every style weh dem a falla yes a we a di maker/
Spending like a runner, think a Bolt when wi come ya, member everyday a summer when yuh deh a Jamaica…/”
The Meji Alabi-directed visual brings the song to life, with Chronixx riding a floating couch through the streets, with him and those around him paying homage to Kingston and Jamaica. He can then be seen performing from the rooftops before day turns to night and the party continues.
Via press release, Chronixx explained the meaning behind the upbeat track:
“This tune is about everyday people of the world, but really a song about us in a Jamaican life that we live…making sure we have the right music, culture, and energy to keep our mind uplifted throughout the struggle and building a better life for ourselves. No matter the intensity of the heat, and no matter how hot the reality get, we still haffi remain cool as the breeze you now. It’s the balance of being able to go through all the different forces of life you know and stay up…it’s an upliftment song.”
