If you’re not familiar with LunchMoney Lewis, you should be — the Miami-based artist has been crafting infectious hits since 2015’s “Bills,” a chart-topping cut that was released via Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records imprint. In addition to an EP of the same name, Lewis has continued to release music and collaborate with the likes of Doja Cat, City Girls, Ty Dolla $ign, and more — he’s even assisted NBA star Kyrie Irving on the Uncle Drew cut “Ridiculous.” Now, he’s assisting with the forward movement of Tampa artists OG Layla Johnson and Naomi Bravo — together known as Layomi The Tampa Baes. Today, they’ve released their new EP titled You, Me & The 813, which features six dope cuts from the Floridian duo.
The biggest standout from the project is the 2019 breakthough single “Dope Boyz,” which is produced by Bobby Kritical and sees Layomi paying tribute to their preferred type of guys:
“I ain’t wanna brag but I got it in the bag, he say Im a brat but I’m sexy when I’m mad/
Hang up call right back like ooh you got it bad, he feenin’ for that thang I’m the best he ever had/
He want me to be his wife, said he needs me in his life yeah, pull up pop out and we ride, I’m his Bonnie, he’s my Clyde yeah…/”
Another single from the project is “No Apologies,” which was co-produced by LunchMoney Lewis and Dave Diem and, as they explained via press release, is all about loving oneself unconditionally:
“Being unapologetically yourself in every way shape and form. Not conforming to what male ideals think you should be. Standing strong in your word and belief. And moving like a Queen, like a woman who knows what she wants with purpose. One thing I’ve been told by my peers is that I’m always focused and not easily distracted by temptations.”
