This week, fans of Top Dawg Entertainment received new music from Ab-Soul, Zacari, and — most surprisingly — Isaiah Rashad. Today, SiR delivers the next offering via his new single “Rapper Weed,” which features fellow west coaster Boogie. The self-produced track sees the collaborators reflecting on smoking chronic with a special someone:
“Clear skies, white walls, sunshine in my rearview as the night falls/
Listenin’ to old Kanye feelin’ like new Kanye, my life in harmony like two, one Ye’s/
I shouldn’t have to tell you that I been here, this is not a gimmick, please don’t push me to my limit/
I be gettin’ tired of bein’ friendly, I go hard until my tank is empty…/”
Many are still vibing heavy to last year’s Chasing Summer, which saw 14 tracks and additional appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, and more. More recently, SiR could also be found contributing to his brother D Smoke’s official debut Black Habits.
In a past interview with DJ Booth, SiR spoke on success and being able to enjoy its benefits:
I’m just now starting to enjoy it! I’m looking for my first house right now. I bought myself a new car this year. I paid off all my student loans. I’m still working, but I feel like even while you’re working, you gotta find time to enjoy yourself. I take days off where I don’t anything music-related. I took my brothers out to the batting cages a couple of weeks back. We had a great day. I try to live life to the fullest, but at the same time, my work is fun to me. I never miss a beat. I feel like my whole life is a rollercoaster of happiness.
