Many might be familiar with rising star Tiana Major9 via her featured appearances — most notably “Collide,” her collaboration with EARTHGANG from the Queen & Slim soundtrack. Armed with a new Motown Records deal, Tiana delivers her new single “Think About You,” which initially premiered as a live performance via VEVO. The WAVSDNTDIE and Benny Cassette-produced cut sees the East Londoner reflecting on a special someone:
“Whinin’ up, off the Hen, I was rolling, you step in the right time to feel the motion/
I turned around because I like to dance alone and, You were fine so I was glad that I was chosen/
Out of all the buff tings in the party, but when we spoke I knew I had just what you wanted/
Island babe our connection felt old, the wickedest, where I went you’d follow/”
Recently, Tiana Major9 spoke to Teen Vogue about her approach to music and struggles within:
“It’s a lot harder for a Black dark-skinned woman to make it in the mainstream and in the U.K, it takes a lot longer, especially one that makes the music the music that I make… In regards to music, I feel like with every album now I want to elevate and try something new. Production-wise, or songwriting wise, I kind of want to keep evolving my sound as I grow. I also want to get into video directing so I can direct my own videos, produce my own albums.”
Prior to “Think About You,” Tiana Major released a slew of singles, including “Merry Go,” “Levee (Let It Break),” and Mr. Mysterious. In 2019, she liberated the well-received six-track EP offering Rehearsal @ NINE, and even appeared on Stormzy’s Heavy Is The Head cut “Rainfall” the same year. American viewers have also enjoyed her live performances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Billboard’s 2019 Women In Music celebration, and the Soul Train Awards.
