The-Dream has one of the most valuable pens in the music game. He’s behind Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” Beyonce’s “Single Ladies,” and so many more classics. While he is well-known as a songwriter who’s working with megastars like JAY-Z, Kanye West, and Mariah Carey; the accomplished artist is back with a new album called Sextape 4.
As the title suggests, this one was definitely made for the lovers. It is the follow up to 2018’s Ménage à Trois: Sextape Vol. 1, 2, 3. Prior to that, Dream released 2014’s IV Play, 2011’s 1977, 2010’s Love King, 2009’s Love vs. Money and his memorable 2007 debut, Love/Hate.
This new album is being released on Radio Killa Records in partnership with Roc Nation. If it is anything like his previous work, fans can expect the highest in production value with plenty of music to help make the first generation of babies conceived during social distancing.
Speaking of passing time while cooped up indoors, there has been a string of famous beat battles on Instagram Live since Timbaland and Swizz Beatz made waves a few weeks ago. The-Dream dueled against fellow songwriter Sean Garett for an Instagram Live battle a few weeks ago. The two traded Beyonce classics and other hits, while keeping viewers entertained.
Shifting from hardcore hip hop to smoothed out R&B would be a challenge for most rap creatives, but The-Dream takes it all in stride. Sextape 4 comes on the heels of Jay Electronica’s magnum opus A Written Testimony.
Along with Hov, The-Dream was a large contributor to Electronica’s debut album, showing up on the track “The Neverending Story,” and composing on “Shiny Suit Theory” and “Ezekiel’s Wheel.”
Some more of Dream’s past collaborators include Fabolous, Usher, and Rick Ross, among others. However, there are no listed features on the tracklist for Sextape 4.
