Last Friday saw the release of The Weeknd’s fourth studio album After Hours, which boasts 14 new tracks and production from Metro Boomin, Illangelo, Frank Dukes and more. Since its release, The Weeknd received high nods for somewhat returning to the dark and uninhibited nature of his past releases, while also creating a new vibe that takes us through an alternative version of Las Vegas in theme. The accompanying artwork and music videos kept with the classic Fear and Loathing aestethic, complete with a red-suited, bloodied nose-bearing Abel throughout.
Today, fans now get a deluxe version of After Hours, which features five additional cuts to add to the experience. Specifically, the album now comes with remixes of favorites “Blinding Lights,” “Save Your Tears,” “Heartless,” and the title track, courtesy of Chromatics, Oneohtrix Point Never, DaHeala, and The Blaze. He also gifted listeners with his live rendition of “Scared To Live,” which he performed on “Saturday Night Live” earlier this month. On the new, vapor wave-styled version of “Heartless,” Philadelphia rapper Lil Uzi Vert now appears with a deeper voice and perfectly matching emo raps:
“She got me confused, I swear she got me mixed up/
I don’t need you, girl, so I don’t care if I slip up/
Yes, I swear I’m heartless, more life for my wrist up/
She rob me for my love, I feel like this a stick-up/
Yeah, it’s Lil Uzi from the 16/
Grade-A bank account, you know I’m with the A-Team/
Went up in my level, don’t know why they hate me/
I knew I was gonna be this way since 18/
I heard she got that water, I’m tryna be waist-deep…/”
