2 Chainz is currently on an absolute tear right now, having recently released his No Face, No Case project alongside his T.R.U. comrades Skooly, Sleepy Rose, Hott LockedN and Worl. Now, the Atlanta hip hop veteran is back with a solo cut titled “No TV,” a short-but-sweet banger that sees production from Young Trill Beatz & DJ Spinz. On the track, the man formerly known as Tity Boi lets the listener know where you can find him in real life:
“I’m out the street, I buy the beats/
I buy the buildin’, Then buy the street/
Exotic bitches, melodic features/
It’s hard to reach us, you in the bleachers/
Say Tony teach us, my money obeses/
I own it, no leases, I dog ‘em, no leashes/
Had Keys like Alicia, I meet you, delete you/
I love you, I feed you, don’t want you, I need you…/”
An accompanying visual — directed by Cloud Harvest — moves outward through multiple television screens, each acting as a window into rooms occupied by Chainz and an attractive co-star. The clip gets progressively more colorful and chaotic as it presses on, increasing in distortion — much like an old television set.
Over the past couple of decades, 2 Chainz has been prolific when it comes to his music catalog, having created hits as a member of DTP, as part of the duo Playaz Circle, as an honorary member of Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music collective, and as a solo artist. Earlier this year, 2 Chainz released another single titled “Dead Man Walking,” which featured fellow ATLien Future. His last solo effort, the Lebron James-A&R’ed Rap Or Go To The League, dropped last March and peaked at the number four spot on the Billboard 100.
You can check out “No TV” below, or via your favorite streaming platform. Hopefully, this is a sign that his sixth solo LP — or even a mixtape — isn’t too far over the horizon.
