There’s been speculation circling the release of YFN Lucci’s latest effort Wish Me Well 3 following the delivery of his single “Man Down.” The single is certainly an indication of what the Atlanta artist had in store for us with the project and it’s quite solid. Lucci isn’t new to making hits. Over the last half-decade, he’s emerged from Atlanta as a legitimate star with anthems like 2016’s “Key to the Streets” and 2017’s “Everyday We Lit,” which have amassed millions of streams, and spots on year-end lists from XXL and Forbes. He now seems poised for a full-on takeover with Wish Me Well 3.
In the world of music (or any artistic field for that matter), one of the biggest challenges, and most significant things for any creative to do is to find their voice. This task can be harder and harder today with the amount of sheer noise (and access to it) at large. Yet, people somehow persevere and YFN Lucci is one of the living proofs of this, blessed with the confidence in his own sound.
His seventh mixtape is filled with a great amount of heat that’s undeniable. Laced with a ripping 21 records, The Atlanta rapper has secured musical contributions from acts like Boosie Badazz, Rick Ross, Jeezy, Yo Gotti, Mozzy, Mulatto and more.
Speaking with Complex recently, Lucci discussed if rap would still have his interest or not in ten years:
“I ain’t gon lie, yeah I’ll be rapping cause that shit just — I ain’t start rapping just to get the money. I’ll be doing other shit, I have my own artists and shit too but I’ll still be rapping. I know I’ll still have shit to get off my chest. I still got shit to teach the youth — I gotta talk my shit.”
