London’s very own Jay Prince just delivered his brand new EP, SOL, VOL 2. The project is short and sweet, clocking in at just under 10 minutes long, serving as the perfect pick-me-up. On the middle track “NOBODY’S BUSINESS,” Prince’s flow comes in as breezy as the beat:

Arms out the window, cruisin’ through the city let the wind blow. That’s a summertime vibe when I’m with you. I remember I was living up in Mariposa, California. Tryna figure out what imma next do. Everybody wanna know what your next move is, I just need a little solace for the mind. Promise all the time, gotta keep it for the drive, like a needle all the time. Honesty, a policy of mind. I ain’t lookin’ for the lover of the night.

SOL, VOL 2 contains a sole feature from Tiny Spies and is a follow up from his Oct 16 release, the first installment which included the single “THE WORD” and “GLADLY.” The latter track arrived with a music video, the only visual we’ve seen so far from either project. His last body of work before this was 2019’s WONDER. He also appeared on Goldlink’s Diaspora on the fan favorite track “U Say” alongside Tyler The Creator.

In a previous interview, Jay Prince spoke about where he stands on being an independent artist as of right now:

“Being signed isn’t a priority. The older I get and the more music I make, I’m realizing what I want out of it, like what it’s done for me and how it’s helped me grow as a person — label or no label, you can’t really buy things like that. Being in the world and growing as a person is invaluable, everything else is just business. I’m not here to say it’s bad to sign or not sign with a label — it really comes down to what you want and what you feel like you need. I don’t feel there are any rules for me right now, so I don’t want to start making rules anytime soon.”
