There we have it — another win for the female artists and we love to see it. DaniLeigh isn’t trying to fill anyone else’s shoes, but she’s certainly carving out her own lane while making things more competitive for her peers in the industry. From a young age, she showed potential for stardom in the performing arts realm as a singer, rapper, dancer, and choreographer. As fate would have it, a shocking encounter with Prince in Los Angeles lead to the mentorship of a lifetime while also igniting the buzz that helped her career take flight. Today, she did us all a favor with the release of her second studio album Movie.
Serving as the follow up to her 2018 debut album The Plan, Movie is nothing short of dope from top to bottom and it’s only the beginning for the Dominican Mami. Not to mention, the 25-year-old rising star really just positioned herself as one of Def Jam’s most promising artists with this album. Given the fact that Danileigh is one of the most forward-thinking artists out there today, it’s no mystery to understand how this LP was arranged.
Equipped with 16 records in total, Movie includes musical contributions from some of the hottest artists in the industry today — DaBaby, PartyNextDoor, Gunna, Ty Dolla $ign and more!
During a recent chat with ET’s Melicia Johnson, Danileigh spoke on being a boss woman and some key inspirations for her career (Beyonce, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and more):
“They’re just so inspirational. Someone who just works so hard and is just a woman. You know, it’s so hard to be a woman. We have to go through so much, it’s easier to hate on women — So just making it and being successful and doing it as yourself, as a woman is like all I wanna do.”
