Just last week, NAV and Wheezy joined forces to cook up and deliver their new Emergency Tsunami mixtape. To keep the momentum going, the duo presented their new “Friends & Family” visual, and now swiftly swung back around to deliver “Don’t Need Friends” featuring frequent collaborator Lil Baby. On the track, NAV goes in about about how no new acquaintances are needed:
“I don’t need friends. They don’t wanna see someone like me doin’ better than them. Still can’t believe it, I really got rich. Tell a bitch or a hater to suck on my dick. Never give focus on hate I receive. I could achieve more than they could dream. I know they ain’t tough enough to be me. Makin’ money like magic, got tricks up my sleeve. Too many vibes, I brought sand to the beach. Tеst drive ‘em all, but I don’t wanna keep.”
The new Emergency Tsunami project boasts 14 tracks and includes features from current favorites Gunna, Young Thug, Lil Baby, Lil Keed, and SahBabii. Earlier this year, NAV also released his solo project Good Intentions. Meanwhile, Wheezy has been the mastermind behind the boards for some of the hottest songs in recent years, such as “Yes Indeed” with Lil Baby and Drake, “Going Bad” with Meek Mill and Drake, and “Bad Bad Bad” with Young Thug and Lil Baby.
In a recent interview, NAV reflected on the time he almost gave up on pursing music, but wound up toughing it out:
“A specific moment. There was a time when I gave up music completely and I sold all my equipment just because it wasn’t going anywhere. After I tried to work a regular job and do stuff in the streets or whatever, after my last job that I quit, I had to start from ground zero. It was really tough and that’s the time I’m talking about. I almost gave up at that time because I was rusty. But if I had given up that time, I don’t know what I’d be doing right now.”
