Fresh off the release of his Kid Next Door project, Bay Area’s very own Capolow immediately gifts listeners with a music video for “Been That Way,” his cut off the album featuring Luh Kel. Over a sample of the New Edition classic “If It Isn’t Love,” Capolow raps to his longtime lover:
“Whatever it is, what it was, what it’s ever gon’ be, matter fact it’s gon’ be that way. Even if it isn’t love, and it just might be lust, you my vibe and forever my bae. You’re my prosperity, there ain’t no sharing me. Love is too blind to see, but baby it’s been that way.”
“Me and Kel linked last summer out in New York right after he got signed,” says Capolow about the new song and Catchrec-directed visual. “We both young and turnt up. It was only a matter of time before we worked together. People are always surprised when they find out I wrote the song when I was in high school. I just never recorded it.”
Earlier this year in March Capolow released his project Room 304. On the 16-track project, he linked up with fellow Bay Area rappers Guapdad 4000 and ALLBLACK, as well as Murdock, Yungeen Ace, Az Chike, and Philthy Rich. He also dropped off his single “Down” last month. Kamaiyah and Capolow joined forces in September to create an homage to their city, their collab project Oakland Nights. The 10-track body of work sees features from RJMrLA and Keek Da Sneak, and maintains a smooth bounce throughout.
R&B player Luh Kel recently shared his two single pack “All In You” and “Want You” featuring Queen Naija. His last full-length project was Mixed Emotions, which was released in November of 2019.
