Smokepurpp and Murda Beatz have been teasing (and prepping) their joint project Bless Yo Trap throughout the past couple of months. With the first track already helping garner buzz surrounding the forthcoming collaboration (“123”), the pair decided Wednesday evening (April 11) was as good a time as any to fire off another taste. Not only that, but Purpp also shared on Instagram that next time around, fans will be treated to the project in full.
The new banger, “Pray,” features A$AP Ferg and is undeniably hard to ignore, with both vocalists going in heavy over an equally hard-hitting and at times frantic instrumental. While it's a song that is kind of like going 70mph in a 30mph zone, each creator proves they are in full control, reveling in all the party-ready chaos.
Take a listen above and keep an eye out for Bless Yo Trap, which is set to release sometime this month.
In celebration of Record Store Day, Ohio-based funk/soul label Colemine Records and Brooklyn-based indie hip-hop label Coalmine Records have joined forces to release a limited edition 7-inch 45 titled, “Head Above Water.”
The collaborative label release features a new track from The Rugged Nuggets on Side A, with Small Professor flipping the track on Side B. The latter features verses from Smoke DZA, Fly Anakin and Blu, with DJ Revolution handling the cuts. Joe Buck also handled artwork for what is sure to become a collector’s item for fans of independent hip-hip and Record Store Day alike.
