Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reacted to a whitewashed wax figure of himself that was unveiled at the Musée Grévin in Paris, France last Monday (Oct. 16).
On Sunday (Oct. 22), the Fast X star reposted an Instagram video of comedian James Andre Jefferson going off about the statue, stating that he knew the roast was coming. “For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grévin Museum in Paris, France so we can work [on] ‘updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements — starting with my skin color,” Johnson wrote in the caption. “And next time I’m in Paris, I’ll stop in and have a drink with myself.”
In the viral clip, Jefferson said, “You know Black a** Samoan The Rock? That’s how Paris thinks he looks. They turned The Rock into a pebble… It looks like The Rock ain’t never seen the sun a day in his life.” He added that the new wax figure of Johnson looks like David Beckham or a member of the Royal Family. “I’m low-key offended,” the comedian continued. “How are you just going to take all of the n**ga out of the Dwayne Johnson? It [doesn’t] look like him no more… It looks like he works at H&R Block or something like that… Is this how y’all felt when you lost The Little Mermaid? I understand. Let’s do Uno reverse — y’all get The Little Mermaid back, the mystical creature, and we get The Rock back. Like, what are we doing here?” Check out the post here.
In an email sent to Deadline, a spokesperson from the Musée Grévin agreed with the criticism and said they are working on fixing the wax figure. “Dwayne Johnson is right, and we noticed it, and will obviously remedy it as quickly as possible, and send him new photos once completed,” the message read.
