Today (July 22), Dvsn releases their brand new single, “If I Get Caught.” The anticipation for the song’s arrival started heightening earlier this week when the duo posted an iMessage screenshot of a conversation between Jermaine Dupri and JAY-Z, which showed Hov personally granting approval to clear the sample for “Song Cry” to be used in the new record.
From the looks of the exchange, fans knew they should brace for one of Dvsn’s most toxic tracks yet. “Haaaaaaaa!!! I didn’t think one could make a song more toxic than ‘Song Cry.’ I stand corrected,” sent JAY-Z.
Then, Dupri asks if the song could be sampled, to which Hov replies, “I just want a disclamer that says, ‘This song is wrong! Haaaa.’ And you’re good.”
Also to promote “If I Get Caught” ahead of its official release, Dvsn held a discussion today that was centered around speaking on open monogamy. The event starred the Canadian R&B duo, Nick Cannon, and Dr. Tammy Wilson and was streamed live on YouTube before the video premiere.
Last August, Dvsn linked up with the one and only Ty Dolla $ign for their collaborative project, Cheers to the Best Memories. The well-received body of work included 11 records, along with a Mac Miller posthumous appearance and features from YG and Rauw Alejandro.
Prior to that, Dvsn shared their Amusing Her Feelings EP, led by their singles, “Use Somebody” and “Blessings.” They also have since shared visuals for their fan-favorite cuts like “A Muse” and the Snoh Aalegra-assisted “Between Us.” They released A Muse In Her Feelings that same April, which included 16 new tracks and additional features from Summer Walker, Popcaan, Ty Dolla $ign, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Future, Jessie Reyez, and Shantel May.
