It’s been three years since Ciara released her seventh studio LP Beauty Marks, an 11-song body of work with additional contributions from Macklemore, Kelly Rowland, and Tekno. Since then, she’s delivered loose cuts like “Rooted” with Ester Dean and “Melanin” with LaLa, City Girls, Dean, and Lupita Nyong’o. She’s also provided her talents for the likes of Summer Walker and Maverick City Music.
Today (July 8), Ciara makes her big return with “JUMP,” a collaboration alongside rising collective Coast Contra. Produced by Sam Sumser and Sean Small, “JUMP” should get feet moving on the dance floor the second the bass drops:
“If you want it, I got all the flavors you need, get up on it, come apply that pressure on me, you’ve been waiting, saying what you gon’ do, we gon’ see, that’s right, we gon’ see what it do, ah, ah, tell me something, you came all this way, slow down, boy, stop frontin’, right now ain’t the time to back down, just enjoy it, I got all this candy, so sweat, this candy so sweat, baby, uh, turn down the light, I can turn it on, here to turn you on, baby, tonight’s the night, you see me perform, yeah, we taking off, baby, you like it when I make the thang jump…”
In related news, Coast Contra (which includes Ras and Taj, the twin sons of artists Ras Kass and Teedra Moses) have been picking up steam over the past year or so via singles like “My Lady,” “AF1,” “Pimpin’ Benjamin,” “Intentional,” “Explicit” and “Legacy.” Earlier this year, they made some serious waves with an animated freestyle over JID‘s “Never” instrumental — that freestyle has since landed on streaming platforms for their fans to enjoy.
