Ari Lennox wants to be released from her record labels.
Over the weekend, the singer took to Twitter to express her frustrations with the expectations set forth by social media critics. She griped about being in headlines for Twitter drama and expressed regret for some of the things she’s shared on Twitter.
“Sm is a traumatizing unhealthy place,” she tweeted. “You are only accepted here if your perfect and seemingly happy at all times. When every single life knows that’s not realistic. People cry, people complain, people are mad in real life. I just never cared to be a fake ass bitch.”
Lennox’s post comes in the wake of her appearance on “Podcast and Chill” host MacG. During the chat, she was asked about her sex life — a question the podcaster claims he got from her 2019 song “Pop.” Her discomfort eventually led to her announcement that she was no longer doing interviews. She later took to Twitter and said that she would make music about whatever she wants.
“I will continue to sing about dick when I want! And you misogynistic peasants can continue to jerk off to my music thank you!!!!” she penned before revealing she wants out from Interscope and J. Cole’s Dreamville Records.
“I’m done and tired,” Lennox tweeted. She then addressed the critics who questioned her tweet.
“For Christ sake’s,” she wrote. “I realize I have no hits. I realize you all can live without hearing my music. I realize my complaining is so aggravating to y’all . I don’t ask blogs to post me when I’m at my worst. You judgemental self-hating parasites wouldn’t last a day as a signed artist… Complaining that I’m complaining about the shit I’m going through meanwhile in real life you’re just as unhappy just as fucked up. You crying in the car too. Somebody calling you insensitive and dramatic too. You could never be honest about your demons.”
