Things might finally be getting patched up between Kanye West and Michael Jordan.
On Friday (Jan. 21), the “All Of The Lights” emcee sent his fans into a frenzy after he posted the iconic Jordan Jumpman on his Instagram page. He also shared a screenshot of a comment from MJ’s son Marcus who proposed that the two sneaker legends meet and have a conversation.
“Let’s make THAT convo happen @djkhaled,” Marcus wrote. “Kanye West & pops…ITS A NEW YEARRRR, NEW TEETH, NEW STORES, NEW WATCHES, NEW WHIPS AND NEW CONVOS.”
Before Ye inked his deal with Adidas, he would frequently talk about his love for Jordans. However, on his track “Facts,” the Donda spitter declared, “Yeezy just jumped over Jumpman.” He later apologized for his bars to the six-time NBA champion on Twitter.
“I’m sorry Michael Jordan I love and respect you,” Ye wrote. “My beef was with [ex-Nike CEO] Mark Parker. I respect you so much!”
Last November, Ye spoke about MJ during his legendary interview on REVOLT’s “Drink Champs” podcast, alleging that he was still upset over the song. “Jordan still won’t meet with me,” the “All Falls Down” rapper said at the time. “I’m trying to meet with Michael Jordan, it’s like, ‘Man, it’s a song, man.’”
Currently, Ye is gearing up for the release of his jeen-yuhs documentary, which is slated to hit Netflix next month. However, on Friday (Jan. 21), the Chicago rapper took to Instagram to let the documentary execs know that he wants to have the final say on the three-part series.
“I’m going to say this kindly for the last time,” he captioned his post. “I must get final edit and approval on this doc before it releases on Netflix. Open the edit room immediately so I can be in charge of my own image. Thank you in advance.”
