Fat Joe is still working hard to assist survivors of the deadly fire that took place earlier this month in the Bronx. Days after launching a relief fund, the Plato O Plomo emcee has teamed up with Hot 97 with hopes to raise more money for the victims. On Saturday, Jan. 22 from 10 am to 7 pm ET, he will take over the radio station with a group of celebrity friends and encourage listeners to donate to the cause. Remy Ma, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, French Montana, DreamDoll, Slick Rick, B-Lovee and more are slated to make their appearances.
“I’d like to express my appreciation for my family at HOT 97, WBLS and all my friends that are supporting this fundraising effort,” Joey said. “It’s critical that we continue to come together and uplift our Bronx brothers and sisters who are suffering physically, mentally and emotionally from this tragedy.”
Joe’s forthcoming gig as Hot 97’s radio show host comes after he and the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City came together to launch a fundraiser. With donations from DJ Khaled, JAY-Z and more, he revealed that he’s already raised $1 million.
“It’s the Bronx. I had to go hard. I donated a large amount,” Fat Joe said in an interview with Pix 11 News. “We’re just trying to help the people. People are homeless… they don’t know how to pay their bills, it’s cold in New York.”
“No matter where I go in the world or what I achieve, I could never forget my community,” he continued. “I had to react, but I couldn’t do it on my own.”
Despite reaching the million-dollar mark, Joey Crack claims there’s “much more to raise.”
As REVOLT previously reported, 17 people died in the Bronx apartment fire on Jan. 9. Cardi B is covering funeral and burial costs for all lives lost in the blaze.
