Back in September, AZ made a huge return to the proverbial fold with Doe or Die II, the sequel to his iconic 1995 debut Doe or Die. The project contained 13 tracks with additional features from Idris Elba, Jaheim, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Conway the Machine, Dave East, and T-Pain.
Later this month, AZ will keep the momentum going by upgrading Doe or Die II with a Deluxe edition. To get things started, he unveils a new single titled “Motorola Era,” which features 2 Chainz and sees production handled by Statik Selektah. As always, the man also known as Tity Boi continues to prove that he can rap over anything, matching Statik‘s top tier production with the rewind-worthy bars that’s made him into the legend that he is:
“You put that pussy on the pedal stool, I got the Prada on the pedal on whatever’s available, I drive my cars according to which one had got gas in it, know I got flavor, I get paid off ad-libbin’, I ain’t goin’ back and forth, badminton, bad bitch, ass different, I brag different, my bag different, my tag different, my mag different, brr, fah-fah-fah, ok, I’m reloadin’, surrounded by the deepthroaters that meet quotas, drop promethazine in the peach soda…”
In a past interview with REVOLT, AZ revealed just how long it took to bring Doe or Die II to life:
“To keep it 100, it had always been in my mind since 2010. I wanted it to be right. Through the course of the years, I was still trying to figure out if I wanted to go under an umbrella or make my own umbrella. I was going through the motions, recording and releasing singles. But, I really locked in when the pandemic hit because I was like, ‘It’s on. I got to get this shit done.’ It was an eye-opener.”
