Gunna has scored his second No. 1 album after his latest project DS4Ever debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart this week. According to MCR Data, the 19-track effort sold 150,300 equivalent album units last week, almost entirely from streaming activity.
Billboard notes that DS4Ever‘s debut week marks the rapper’s best week ever in terms of units earned. The album beat out his and Lil Baby’s 2018 project Drip Harder; which earned 130,000 units in its first week.
SEA units comprised 144,600 of DS4Ever’s equivalent album units, which equates to 193.5 million on-demand streams, making DS4Ever the most-streamed album of the week. Album sales also comprised 4,700 of the units and TEA units comprised 1,000.
Gunna celebrated the feat on Twitter, writing, “#DS4EVER NUMBER #1 IN THE WORLD… LUV YALL.”
In a video, he noted that “this ain’t the first one… but this the big one!”
DS4Ever beat out The Weeknd’s album Dawn FM, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, marking the singer’s eighth Top 10 album. The Weeknd previously broke Billboard chart records with his 2020 album, After Hours. However, in a tweet earlier this month, he explained that he doesn’t make music for charting accolades.
“This doesn’t matter to me,” The Weeknd wrote to a fan who said the lack of Dawn FM physical copies would impact first-week figures. “What matters is getting to experience the album together with the fans during these times.”
DS4Ever is the fourth and final installment of Gunna’s Drip Season series. The album features Young Thug, 21 Savage, Drake, Future, Kodak Black, Chlöe Bailey, Lil Baby, G Herbo and more.
Gunna recently commented on his relationship with Chlöe after the pair was seen together at an Atlanta Hawks game.
“We’re really close friends,” he told “The Breakfast Club.” The 28-year-old also admitted to “kinda shooting my shot a little bit” with the singer.
