Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to resume production this week, Deadline reports, after a nearly two-month-long pause. The news was first confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter and Wakanda Forever is also listed as one of the ongoing films in production on the Georgia Film Office website.
The highly anticipated Black Panther sequel will also resume production with Letitia Wright, who stars as Princess Shuri. As reported by REVOLT, Wright has been recuperating off-set since injuring herself in a stunt mishap during an overnight shoot for the film back in August. At the time, Wright was thought to have only suffered “minor injuries” from the accident. However, filmmakers later revealed the actress endured more serious injuries, including a concussion and fractured shoulder.
“What we had initially thought were minor injuries turned out to be much more serious with Letitia suffering a critical shoulder fracture and a concussion with severe side effects,” Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Nate Moore said in a statement.
Due to Wright’s injuries and the holidays, production for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever paused in November. Disney previously pushed the film’s release date from July to Nov. 11, 2022; where it currently stands.
Last fall, Wright also made headlines after The Hollywood Reporter claimed she was expressing views against the COVID-19 vaccination on the Black Panther set. However, Wright later denied the claims on her since-deactivated Instagram account.
“It saddens me to have to address the reports published by The Hollywood Reporter on October 6th 2021,” she wrote at the time. “The report spoke about my conduct on the set of Black Panther 2. I honestly assert that this was completely untrue. Anyone who knows me or has worked with me, knows that I work incredibly hard at my craft & my main focus is always to do work that’s impactful and inspiring. That has been & will continue to be my only focus.”
