The artist formerly known as Kanye West has reportedly teamed up with Cardi B for a new song. Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee revealed the news during an episode of his podcast.
“I heard all his new music. I’m not gonna’ talk about it,” he said on “Gagging with Jason Lee.” “I did hear the song with him and Cardi. I just got off the phone with Cardi to tell her I heard the song.” He hinted that the music will be upbeat, adding “the song gon’ have you dancing.”
News of a Ye and Cardi collaboration comes days after the emcees came together to shoot a music video. According to reports, the Chicago rapper and Cardi shut down the Balenciaga store in Miami for the visual. It is not clear whether the song is for Cardi’s sophomore project — which is set to come out this year — or the sequel to Donda, which has been teased a few times in the last couple of days.
After West’s manager announced that Donda 2 was in the works, Moneybagg Yo shared text messages that revealed he and Ye had plans to “lock in” for the project. The “All Falls Down” emcee has also been spotted in the studio with a slew of celebrities, including Blueface, Antonio Brown, Scarface, Hit-Boy, Pusha T, A$AP Rocky, DJ Premier and The Game, who is featured on his upcoming single “My Life was Never Eazy.”
On Thursday (Jan. 13), West posted what appears to be the cover art for the song — a disturbing image of a hairless, lanky and bloody monkey in front of a red background with its arms up. The Compton star, who was tagged in the post, also took to social media to share the artwork.
