Very little is known about the THEAFTERPXRTY in regards to his background — he seems to carry an elusiveness that’s reminiscent of established artists like The Weeknd, PARTYNEXTDOOR, GoldLink, and the man now known as 24hrs during the earlier years of their respective careers. What is known is that he’s definitely bringing a style of R&B that’s all his own.
Last week, THEAFTERPXRTY unveiled a new single titled “Touch,” which features Queens rapper Brinx Billions and sees production from E-Major Unruly and Mouse Trapppp, who utilize a sample of Case, Mary J. Blige, and Foxy Brown‘s 90’s classic “Touch Me, Tease Me” to create a genre-bending, island-tinged offering for fans to enjoy. The track sees THEAFTERPXRTY keeping it real with his love interest about what he’s looking for (and what he’s not):
“You said we ‘gwan be lovers now, you said we ‘gwan be friends, but I already know you now, so why you wan’ pretend … ’cause you know that this game you run, babe, rabbit get the gun and it ain’t no fun, babe, now you gotta go back from which you come, babe … touch me, tease me, if you on demon time, you come and see me, take time, easy, I’m about to explode…”
Late last year, THEAFTERPXRTY took to social media to reveal much of what’s he’s ben going through, which both might explain the lack of releases during that time and gives supporters a better glimpse into his life:
“4 months ago, I lost 2 of my closest friends in a week .. both business partners , both fathers, both integral parts of my life… I spent 10’s of thousands of dollars trying to cope , countless hours crying, countless days blaming myself for not being able to move forward. In trying to feel better, I neglected myself, my fans , my family , my responsibilities… But Now, Now is different. I appreciate all of your patience , kind words , support and love. I made a promise to myself , & I’m making a promise to you. I Won’t Stop…”
Press play on “Touch” and look out for more from THEAFTERPXRTY soon.
