Jaheim is ready to see Usher on that Verzuz stage.
The “Put That Woman First” singer took to Instagram to propose the matchup. “Someone set it up!!!” he captioned a side-by-side photo of himself and the “You Don’t Have to Call” vocalist. “Let’s move all the pawns out the way!!! King Move but if you are scared, I’ll just say checkmate! I will give @usher 1 month to step up. Nothing personal he’s one of the best. RESPECTIVELY.”
In the comments, he added, “I’m w/ all the SMOKE. YOU THE FANS CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY. IM SO SERIOUS j@ is ready.”
Following Jaheim’s post, fans took to Twitter to discuss how they believe the potential battle would play out. Social media user @jquesttherebel tweeted, “Usher is Usher, but by the way yall talking, I know y’all don’t know who Jaheim is. Stop playing with that man name.”
“Jaheim is challenging #Usher to a #Verzuz,” tweeted @Loves_TheLord2. “Usher — with 18 Hot 100 top 10 hits & over 100 million records sold, reigns as one of the best-selling R&B acts in history. Usher will win this & still have extra songs to sing if u add in the several hit duets with other artists too.”
Twitter user @RareRanda wrote, “Jaheim and Usher isn’t really a good match, but y’all NOT about to disrespect that man on Beyoncé internet. Just in case? Could it be? Anything? PUT THAT WOMAN FIRST? That man had HITS and could definitely sing.”
Several people suggested that Jaheim would be a better competitor against Lyfe Jennings, Avant, Anthony Hamilton, J. Holiday, Joe and Carl Thomas. While he may want to battle Usher, ultimately the fans want the Confessions singer to take on Chris Brown.
