Come Jan. 21, Young T & Bugsey will unveil their sophomore LP Truth Be Told, which is currently led by the singles “Big Bidness,” “Roberto C” with Unknown T, and “Prada Bae” with Nafe Smallz. There’s also word that a collaboration alongside the elusive J Hus — said to be titled “Dundee” — will make the album as well.
Last week, the Nottingham, East Midlands duo revealed another track from Truth Be Told titled “Blessings,” which comes with production from 4PLAY and features Jamaican talent Chronixx. The song sees the artists reflecting on past struggles and giving thanks to how far they’ve come:
“Yeah, posing for pictures on the carpet with Gucci tuxedos, funny how my life changed, they called me a zero, taking hella vodka shots, she sipping on pinot, fast forward, stardawg still killing my people, Fendi or Louis, it’s really tomato tomata, Portugal for 3 weeks, I’m taking the shottas, African Prince, I’m flying with peregrine wings, writing a cheque, I sign it with feather and ink … only God can change me or maybe Allah, on my good and worst days I reason wid Jah…”
Last year saw Young T & Bugsey releasing their debut LP Plead the 5th, a 12-track body of work that saw additional features from Aitch, Morrisson, Fredo, and Headie One — the last of whom made his appearance on the breakthrough hit “Don’t Rush.” The group followed that release with “New Shape” before liberating the aforementioned songs, effectively building momentum towards Truth Be Told. Outside of their own work, they’ve also provided their special blends and styles for Headie One’s “Princess Cuts,” Not3s’ “Boom Bam,” and Kranium’s “Life of The Party.”
Press play on a dope lyric video for Young T & Bugsey and Chronixx‘s “Blessings” below, which should be enjoyed off of the throwback imagery alone.
