Bronx DJ Kid Capri is battling COVID-19. He revealed the news on Thursday (Jan. 6) via a video on his Instagram account.
In the clip, Capri revealed he’s been “sick as shit” for the last four days and has experienced “pounding” headaches, profuse sweating and back pain, forcing him to cancel his prior obligations. With hopes to prevent further people from going through the same thing, he encouraged his followers to stay at home unless it is necessary for them to step out.
“I just wanted to pop on here and tell y’all take care of yourselves, man. Fuck them parties. Fuck hanging out,” he said. “If you ain’t gotta be somewhere then don’t go. Just relax, ’cause this shit is no joke.”
“A lot of people I know are dying. Force MD’s Jessie D died today. It’s killing a lot of people, man,” he went on. “So if you ain’t healthy, it’ll do you in. So just try to stay out the way, man. Take care of yourself out there because it’s serious. Shit is serious.”
Capri also mentioned a conversation he had with DJ Kay Slay, who admitted that he “almost checked out” amid his own battle with COVID-19. “He couldn’t even talk, he could hardly talk. But I think he’s getting better though,” the Bronx native said of Slay before logging off to check on his fellow DJ.
Since posting the video, Capri has received well wishes from the likes of DJ D-Nice, DJ Spinderella, DJ Clue, Lord Finesse, Freeway, DJ Jazzy Jeff and more. There has also been a promising update about Kay Slay’s COVID battle. According to his brother Kwame Grayson, he’s been taken off a ventilator and is “definitely not going to die.”
