Last September, Lance Skiiiwalker made a big return with Tales From the Telescope Chapter 1: Rebirth, which saw five tracks and an assist from Nick Hakim. Months later, he would follow that up with Tales From The Telescope Chapter 2: Internal Shine, another dope five-track offering that contained a collaboration alongside SiR titled “Peso.” Produced by FRGN-SPCMN, “Peso” borrows from 2Pac’s “Do For Love” — which itself takes from Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do for Love” — and sees the Top Dawg Ent. stars lamenting over the pitfalls of chasing money over true happiness:

“You know it’s what we livin’ for, buyin’ things you know we can’t afford, makes me, ‘Ooh, damn,’ I want it more, extra days, baby, ain’t workin’ for, we need more time and longer days, know it’s real, materialistic slaves, but it’s my thing, it’s what I feel, not really sure what happiness it brings, mental, I can’t lose it, oh, now, ’cause Lord, I need to use it, use it, busy making music, oh, now, it’s precious, I can’t lose it, can’t lose it…”

This week, “Peso” now sees an accompanying clip courtesy of Matthew Freiheit, which goes the largely animated route and begins with a women walking into a store to retrieve cash. Upon leaving, one of her bills flies out of her hands and kickstarts a trippy sequence showing Skiiiwalker singing amongst warped shots of the rat race and people spending their earnings over various products and services. SiR eventually enters into the “madness” to perform his verse as well.

It’s been six years since Lance Skiiiwalker released his debut LP Introverted Intuition, which came with 13 dope cuts and contributions from ScHoolboy Q and Michael Anthony. Since then, the Chicago multi-talent provided an occasional feature for his peers — hopefully, the aforementioned EPs have a chronological follow-up (or a sophomore album) waiting to make landfall soon.
