New 2 Chainz music is coming to a streaming platform near you. The “Money Maker” rapper will be dropping a new album this week. He announced the news on Tuesday (Jan. 4) alongside a photo of him performing on a stage.
“Hey you how you been!? It’s been a minute I know, but I’m back with something new and exotic,” he captioned the post. “You know I ain’t been around this long without being a thinker and a constant student & teacher of the game. My album ‘DOPE DONT SELL ITSELF’ drops this month and single drops this week. Sincerely Yours, Two Tone Toni.”
Fans have been awaiting the release of Dope Don’t Sell Itself since the Atlanta rapper announced the project back in August.
“New album on the way,” his DJ said while on stage during his set at the HARD Summer Music Festival in San Bernardino, California. Chainz eventually chimed in, disclosing the name of the LP. The Collegrove star later took to Twitter urging fans to “enjoy” Dope Don’t Sell Itself because it will probably “be my last trap album.”
2 Chainz’s forthcoming project will serve as the follow-up to 2020’s So Help Me God!, which saw features from the likes of Kanye West, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Wayne, Mulatto, Brent Faiyaz, Lil Duval and more. Released under T.R.U and Def Jam Recordings shortly after his Verzuz battle with Rick Ross, the album peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 and No. 8 on Billboard‘s Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums.
Chainz has since sharpened his pen game with appearances on songs like BLEU’s “Baddest,” “Plug Talk” by Benny The Butcher of Griselda, Westside Gunn’s “Forest Lawn” and “200 Pies” and “TRU Bethel” by Conway The Machine.
