Just before 2022 officially arrived, Ghostface Killah decided to bless the masses with an infectious bop to guide us into the new year. Said single is titled “Let Me Touch Ya,” which sees rising star Shaun Wiah handling hook duties and borrows from Mario’s 2004 hit single “Let Me Love You.” As such, Ghostface uses the track to send a direct message to an old flame, even though it’s clear that she’s currently with someone else:
“Yo, matching furs in the cold weather, big blankets in the fireplace feel better, jewelry shopping, no rules, no options, you can have whatever you like cause we popping, I know them birds was jealous when I got you, a few of them birthday feathers, I wasn’t stable in my love endeavors, I find myself climbing these mountains like Mount Everest, another love forget it, we made statements, autographed paintings, 40g bangles, emerald stone bracelets…”
Courtesy of Picture Perfect comes a matching visual that begins with Ghostface‘s love interest getting caught cheating by her animated boyfriend (played by comedian Mr. Commodore). Things then move to a lit function — a NYE party, perhaps — where Ghost wins his girl back on the dance floor.
It’s only been a few years since Ghostface Killah released his last solo LP Ghostface Killahs, which saw production from Danny Caiazzo and a wealth of contributions from Method Man, Cappadonna, Inspectah Deck, Sun God, Solomon Childs, Eamon, Masta Killa, and more. Months prior to that, the Wu-Tang Clan emcee teamed up with Czarface — consisting of Inspectah and 7L & Esoteric — to create Czarface Meets Ghostface, a 12-track body of work that included a couple of assists from Kendra Morris. Hopefully, Ghostface‘s latest means that we can expect a brand new album sometime in 2021.
In the meantime, press play on Ghostface Killah and Shaun Wiah’s “Let Me Touch Ya” below.
