Over the weekend, Shenseea kicked off the year with a new single titled “Dolly,” which sees production from Romeich Entertainment and sees her bringing the self-confidence and poking fun at any detractors who feel she doesn’t have the looks:
“Some a dem gyal ah see mi and dem face get saggy, Shenseea, but dem know weh mek dem haggy?
A tru mi ah dolly, tell a gyal fi guweh, chat all yuh waan, but yuh cyaan touch me, everyday a mi life blessed like Sunday, anuh my fault seh yuh born ugly, jealous a mi looks, jus tru, mi look like a dolly, mi look like a dolly, ’nuff money spent ‘pon mi body, a ’nuff mon ah dead over me, if yuh waan be a dolly, listen mi…”
The accompanying clip for “Dolly” sees Shenseea as a life-size Barbie doll, giving off vibes that are almost reminiscent of classic Nicki Minaj videos. Viewers can also catch notable cameos from peers like Prettii Prettii, TC, and Moyann throughout.
“Dolly” follows recent drops from Shenseea like “You’re The One I Love,” “Be Good,” and “Run Run,” all of which are hopefully laying the groundwork for a debut album campaign. Outside of her own releases, fans can also check her out on EA Sports’ Madden NFL 22 soundtrack, collaborating with Canadian rapper Belly on “How I’m Feelin’,” and on a couple of standout cuts from Kanye West’s latest LP DONDA. Shenseea also made an appearance at last year’s Summer Jam, Hot 97’s biggest event that — despite the inclement weather — still saw plenty of great sets by CJ, DreamDoll, Rotimi, Swizz Beatz, and more. This in turn came mere weeks after Shenseea stopped by Funkmaster Flex’s show at said station to freestyle over Skillibeng’s viral “Crocodile Teeth” instrumental.
