Back in November, Tyga dropped off a single titled “Lift Me Up,” which sees production from Mike Crook and mixes some inspirational vibes with the Cali star‘s usual rockstar-based subject matter:
“I pay extra for thе big body, I’m a cold ass nigga, need a hot thottie, bless me, got thе money runnin’, and that chain on my neck, I got chills from it, prayed it up, you slept on me but I waited up, lookin’ at me crazy like I made it up, praise hands to me ’cause I’m way up … lift me up, lift me up, got the engine in trunk, I need hunnid on two and I need one on the pump…”
Yesterday (Dec. 29), Tyga unveiled a new visual for “Lift Me Up” that sees direction from Ryder Ripps and seems to merge Kanye West’s Sunday Service with an episode out of “Dragonball Z.” The clip begins with three versions of Tyga standing with a choir singing behind them. One by one, each rendition of the “Taste” rapper steps onto a glowing circle and heads into the skies to battle a CGI-rendered demon of sorts. The last of the “trio” eventually succeeds in dispatching his enemy before floating into the skies. You will probably find yourself playing this one a few times over while trying to figure out the message that Tyga is attempting to convey.
Almost an exact year ago, Tyga teamed up with DJ Drama for the mixtape Well Done Fever, which came with 10 tracks and a single assist from DJ Chose. His last official album — Legendary, his seventh — made landfall back in 2019 and contained 14 songs with collaborations alongside Lil Wayne, Blueface, J Balvin, Chris Brown, Swae Lee, Gunna, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and more.
