On Christmas Day last year, 38 Spesh blessed the masses with the critically acclaimed Interstate 38, which came with 11 tracks and additional features Che Noir, Klass Murda, Ransom, Benny The Butcher, Clemm Rishad, and more. Just before the big holiday arrived (and presumably in celebration of the album’s one-year anniversary), Spesh liberates a new visual from Interstate 38 for “Route 38,” a collaboration alongside Elcamino that sees the two keeping with vivid, street-related bars over production from none other than D.T.I.C. alum Buckwild:
“Fuck it Imma try this corner out, I went from standing on a corner to places I never thought about, I know what being locked all about, I used to stand up all my bum, got 10 o’clock when they call the count, was getting money in large amounts, you went home and came back, I went home and bought a house, now they love me in Australia, biggest fears being broke half, and a dude with bars’ll tell ya
But don’t let the lord jail ya, you gon broke and they stop showing love, I call it heart failurе, was plot in the dark cellar, a raw sellеr, you couldn’t walk a mile in my Margielas…”
Shot by New Vegas Films and D. Gomez, the accompanying clip for “Route 38” sees both Spesh and Elcamino out in the elements, delivering their respective bars from what’s presumed to be their New York stomping grounds.
Back in May, 38 Spesh teamed up with Benny The Butcher for the well-received compilation Trust The Sopranos, a 10-track body of work that — in addition to Elcamino — saw additional contributions from Ampichino, Heem, Rick Hyde, Chase Fetti, and more. The project was led by “Immunity,” “Spineless” with Ransom, and the Che Noir and Klass Murda-assisted standout “Love Left.”
