Back in July, Fireboy DML unveiled the infectious single “Peru,” which sees production from Shizzi and is centered around both a celebratory night and a show-stopping love interest:
“She say she like my tunes, she say me I never see a guy like you, shey you like my tattoo, girl me I want to be inside you, she is my woman, inside puna sweet like sugar, in my new van, come to me I dey swim like tuna…”
Today (Dec. 24), the Nigerian star unveils a remix of “Peru” that now features the stylings of megastar Ed Sheeran, who matches the song’s subject matter and even dabbles in a bit of Yoruba for added effect:
“Girl, I want you in my life, if there’s a heaven then it’s right here, I will never leave your side, stay tonight, when you wan’ see me, when you wan’ see me, I’m in West London this evening, givin’ me feelings, no I’m not leavin’, until I fly LA next weekend, Peru, nah, girl, I’d rather go find somewhere quiet, you’ll glow, and I’ll get lost here in your eyes, omoge no be so, girl, you just capture my soul, omoge no be so, make me wanna just take you home…”
“Peru (Remix)” also comes with a top tier clip courtesy of Gabriella Kingsley that begins with Fireboy DML setting up a meet-up with Sheeran, who’s enjoying drinks with SB.TV’s own Jamal Edwards MBE. Things then move to an outdoor function with a bevy of beauties — one of whom Fireboy vibes with throughout the video.
In addition to “Peru,” Fireboy has also spent the year stealing the show on tracks like Cheque’s “History,” DJ Spinall’s “Sere (Remix),” WSTRN’s “Be My Guest,” Rotimi’s “Weapon,” and D Smoke‘s “Sleepwalking.” Hopefully, he’s also been working on an official follow-up to last year’s Apollo.
