Earlier this year, Capitol Records’ very own Nija shared her two singles “Finesse” and “Ease My Mind (Come Over)” to set the tone for another successful year. Her latest track “On Call” just received a boost in momentum with a brand new accompanying visual. The Jay R. Weneta-directed clip sees a reflective Nija navigating a post-last call rendezvous. On the track, Nija rides some entrancing production courtesy of Ambezza and Larkin Noir:
You know I’m a little fucked up, maybe ’cause I only hit you when I’m drunk, yeah/ Baby, when I’m off that Patron, don’t wanna be alone, so I pick up my phone, I, I, I, I, I, I need you to come by, yeah/ Now why, do you pick up every time?
I guess that’s why I keep you on call, every time I’m sippin’ alcohol/ ‘Cause I know you gon’ do what I want, don’t mean to lead you on but I gotta keep you on call/ Every time I’m sippin’ alcohol
After dropping her first three singles in 2021, Nija has been hinting of more music to come by posting snippets on YouTube and social media. Now – at 23 – the three-time GRAMMY Award-winning contributor is ready more than ever to show the world what she can do.
Born in New Jersey and now based in Los Angeles, Nija Charles is no stranger to success in the music scene. Although she only recently started releasing singles of her own, she has penned and co-penned a surplus of hits that the world already knows and loves, including massively successful cuts like “Have Mercy” by Chloe, “Positions” by Ariana Grande, “No Guidance” by Chris Brown and Drake, “Rain On Me” by Lady Gaga and Ariana, “Ring” by Cardi B and Kehlani, and many more.
