Sheesh, what a year it has been for Nas & Hit-Boy. Coming from a successful 2020 with their joint album King’s Disease, the two living legends continued to dominate 2021. After winning a Grammy award for the LP, the duo wanted to keep applying serious pressure on the music tip. With the release of their acclaimed King’s Disease 2 album in August, Nas & Hit-Boy are untouchable right now. Just when you thought Nas was done for the year, you were clearly mistaken. Today (Dec. 24), the Queens rapper connects with Hit-Boy for a surprise release with their new album Magic. This body of work certainly won’t be their last but now it is only a matter of time.
Upon the album’s announcement yesterday (Dec. 23), Nas simply stated “Magic is in the air.” With nine songs and granular cover image showing a young Nas looking to the side, Magic seeks to carry the momentum he and Hit-Boy have cultivated over the course of their last two albums and usher in 2022 the right way. Hit-Boy mirrored these sentiments in a comment he left under his post for the project, saying, “2021 is not over.” The elite producer also left a flurry of comments under Nas’ post sharing his excitement about Magic’s arrival, including, “You not playing fair!!”
Serving as Nas’ 14th studio album, Magic fulfills its purpose from the bars to the production. Nas actually hinted at the album in an interview with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden in August:
He’s like my Quincy [Jones], you know what I mean? So I feel like the next thing I do, if I was to work with Hit-Boy on the next thing I do, I think that we might do something that is going to be magical. I think what we have is magic.
Bless your ears with Nas & Hit-Boy’s latest effort now.
