Westside Gunn is taking a break to recover following his most recent hospitalization. He announced the news on Wednesday (Dec. 22) while updating fans on the state of his condition.
“Some rest & I’ll be back. Thank y’all so much for the love, u know I love u all even the haters!!!” the Pray for Paris emcee wrote before wishing his fans a wonderful holiday season. “Happy holidays... I didn’t realize I had 60 points in the 3rd quarter I should’ve been benched myself, some should be thankful I’m giving y’all a head starts anyways (I’m still talking shit but if u know me u know I’m humble lol…) Allahu Akbar. See y’all next year #FlyGod Seriously thank u.”
Gunn’s update comes a day after he announced that he was being rushed to the hospital for the second time this month.
“Pray for me. They had to call for emergency [because] I couldn’t breathe,” he previously wrote in his Instagram story. “It’s under control now, but OTW to hospital.”
The Griselda rapper’s complaints about breathing mirror symptoms he experienced last year. At the time, he was diagnosed with COVID-19 after being unable to breathe and was forced to stay away from his loved ones as he quarantined himself from others.
“I have a confession to make I’m a Corona Survivor,” he wrote. “I didn’t want anybody feeling sorry for me I had to thug it out for weeks I didn’t get to see my kids I went to the hospital feeling like I was breathing my last breath. The fans and the love I was getting kept me strong.”
“Thx to the ppl who did know and held me down now,” Westside Gunn went on, mentioning the late Virgil Abloh and DJ Premier. “I’m about to go harder than I ever have. That shit tore me up inside.”
