Gucci Mane and his 1017 family have released So Icy Christmas this week just in time for the official day. The compilation contains 17 songs and additional contributions from Enchanting, BigWalkDog, Big Scarr, Hotboy Wes, BiC Fizzle, and DJ Chose. This year also saw him unveil another 1017 compilation (So Icy Boyz) and his fifteenth solo LP Ice Daddy.
A stand-out from the release from the project is the outro “Long Live Dolph.” Produced by Metro Boomin and Zaytoven, the track sees Gucci reminding listeners just how impactful the Paper Route Empire head honcho was to music and the world as a whole:
Can’t be quiet and go silent, life violent, we still outside, hurt me inside, I can’t hide it, it’s hard to hide/ Bein’ a trap rapper, it’s a miracle if you survive (Yeah), every day, I pray and thank the Lord that I’m still alive (The Lord)/ When it comes to legends, Dolph forever in my top five (Dolph), real life street n***a, never had to tell lies (No)
The new release acts as a follow up to So Icy Boyz compilation from October and Gucci’s solo album Ice Daddy from the summer. So Icy Christmas sees the Atlanta rapper channeling a similar energy to his East Atlanta Santa series.
Earlier this year, Gucci Mane dropped off his fifteenth studio LP Ice Daddy, which sees 17 tracks with additional features from Pooh Shiesty, BIG30, Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, 2 Chainz, Young Dolph, E-40, Project Pat, and more. Gucci’s last official album, Woptober II, was released in 2019 and peaked at the number nine spot on the Billboard 200, making it Gucci’s seventh top 10 album overall. The project featured plenty of contributions from DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, and more.
Be sure to press play on So Icy Christmas.
