50 Cent wants to bring Black love back to television.
On Monday night (Dec. 20), the “Many Men” rapper took to Instagram to tease his thoughts about creating a new show to resemble “The Cosby Show.”
“I have had a crush on @phyliciarashad for forever,” he captioned a photo of the Huxtables. “I don’t know, she can talk with her eyes. She was just it. I think it was ‘The Cosby Show.’ It was the only representation of Black love on TV. I gotta make us a new one.”
50 has been on a run when it comes to making hit television shows. His latest project “BMF” just got renewed for a second season after becoming the No. 1 premiere on the Starz app this year. It was also ranked as one of the most “highly engaged series premieres ever across OTT platforms,” according to Deadline.
Additionally, the Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ emcee’s hit show “Power Book II: Ghost” has been renewed for season three — just four episodes into the show’s second season. “The continued success and cultural resonance of the ‘Power’ universe is unprecedented, and fans are clearly still hungry for more ‘Power Book II: Ghost,’” said Jeffrey Hirsch, president and CEO of Starz.
50 is also planning to create a TV show about Snoop Dogg’s murder case, for which Tha Doggfather rapper was acquitted in 1996. “I’m afraid this is going to be a problem for everything on TV,” the Queens native wrote on Twitter back in October. “A moment in time (MURDER WAS THE CASE) when the dream you have been wishing for feels like a nightmare. You think you know you have no idea.”
“Snoop Dogg story is crazy,” he continued. “BOOM. Green Light Gang. I DON’T MISS.”
