Saweetie is returning to her alma mater, the University of Southern California, to teach.
According to TMZ, the “My Type” rapper will be a guest lecturer in two semester-long business courses — Venture Feasibility and Venture Initiation — both classes for students who major in entrepreneurial studies.
Albert Napoli, a professor of entrepreneurial studies at USC Marshall School of Business, told the outlet his former student Saweetie will be facilitating lessons and working with professors to develop the structure of the business courses. In October, she stopped by one of Professor Napoli’s classes to chat with students who took his course during the fall semester.
Per TMZ, Icy Bae is in talks to instruct an entrepreneurial studies class on her own, but she’s still working out the details with the University. The outlet did confirm that the 28-year-old California native will be a guest speaker when USC hosts high school students for a four-week program on campus in the summer.
Earlier this month, Saweetie spoke about her opportunity to teach during an interview before her performance at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball.
“I would love to teach about branding and marketing, you know, in the modern day because it’s important for these businesses to evolve with the modern- day consumers — generation Z, the millennials,” she said. “They’re the people spending the money, so it’s important that we evolve and we adapt to the consumer.”
Saweetie graduated from USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism in 2016 with her bachelors degree in communication with a concentration in business. In 2019, she told the school’s newspaper, The Daily Trojan, that she was initially admitted into USC’s Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, however she fought to get into the Annenberg School.
“I wrote a letter and told them why I deserved to be an Annenberg student,” she said at the time. “They replied two days later and agreed to all of my points and granted me access to be a communication student.”
