Lil Nas X revealed he tested positive for COVID-19.
On Friday (Dec. 17), the “Industry Baby” rapper took to Twitter to share the news while celebrating one of his tracks being listed as one of Barack Obama’s favorite songs of 2021. “Started running around the house in excitement when I saw this, then I remembered I have covid lol,” he tweeted.
In separate tweets, he added, “Now that I’m sure I won’t die from covid I will now begin making mildly funny jokes about having it. I’m not sure whether I’ve had the Omarion or Alicia Keys variant of covid, but this has not been a fun journey.”
Earlier this week, Lil Nas X had to withdraw from the 2021 Jingle Bell Ball after members of his crew tested positive for Coronavirus. Last weekend, Capital FM announced the news in a statement, just hours after the 22-year-old performed a medley of his hits for concertgoers at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
“Of course, everyone at Capital is absolutely gutted, but the show must go on,” the radio station said.
COVID-19 cases are currently on the rise in the United States and across the world as the Delta and Omicron variants continue to spread rapidly. As REVOLT previously reported, earlier this month, the first confirmed U.S. case of the Omicron variant was detected in California in a person who had just traveled to South Africa, where the strain was first discovered.
Since then, the Omicron variant has been found in more than 35 states across the country. The World Health Organization (WHO) has characterized the Omicron strain as a “variant of concern” and stated that it posed a “very high” global risk. However, health officials are urging those who are fully vaccinated to receive their booster shot to help fight the virus.
Get well soon, Lil Nas X. Check out his tweets below.
