Back in November, French Montana released his fourth studio LP They Got Amnesia, which originally came with 21 tracks and a wealth of contributions from Rick Ross, Kodak Black, Pop Smoke, Doja Cat, Fivio Foreign, 42 Dugg, Ty Dolla $ign, and more — shortly after its release, the previously released single “Cold” (featuring Tory Lanez) was added to the project.
In addition to They Got Amnesia was a short film that mainly documented French‘s well-known hospitalization a couple of years ago. Yesterday (Dec. 15), fans were able to check out a visual for “How You King?,” which pulls from the aforementioned film and sees him delivering bars while watching another version of himself being resuscitated by doctors in a surgery room.
Produced by Cardiak, FnZ, BoogzDaBeast, and Hitmaka, “How You King?” sees French reflecting on his health scare and making his case as one of hip hop’s true MVPs:
“Real champs never pawn rings, never leap offsprings for short springs, no offense, we the summer boys, hits every year, all bazookas, where they put the roof at? Do you put Hov where you put B.I.G. and Snoop at? Or you put him higher ’cause he made it bigger through that? Or you measure by the decades, who’s the Jefe? With the most mamis suckin’ on the leche, or you measure by the pioneers? All the youngins makin’ hits, classics, and dyin’ in a couple years…”
They Got Amnesia followed last year’s CB5, the fifth installment of his Coke Boys mixtape series that contained 19 songs and assists from the likes of Jim Jones, Lil Durk, Jack Harlow, Chinx, Max B, Benny the Butcher, and A$AP Rocky. Prior to that, French liberated They Got Amnesia‘s official predecessor MONTANA, which boasted top tier hits like “No Stylist” and “Lockjaw.”
