As a working mother of two, Cardi B, a rapper and actress among other things, has a lot on her plate. Among her goals for next year is the desire to release her long-awaited sophomore project. During a recent Instagram Live, she revealed that dropping her album is one of the many things on her list of things to do for 2022.
“Everything be looking so glamorous when you see my fucking Instagram and everything, but it’s been really… it’s been a lot,” Cardi said of her busy schedule. “It’s been a lot trying to balance out my new motherfucking life. I got two kids, my daughter’s going to school now, and I have, like, a lot of jobs now. I’m in a lot of positions and that requires a lot of my time, and on top of that, I gotta put out this album next year. Not only do I gotta put out an album, but I gotta record a movie, I gotta do so much shit, y’all.”
Cardi’s album update comes a little more than three years since the release of her debut LP, Invasion of Privacy. The Grammy-award-winning project features singles that have helped the Bronx rapper break records while making history. In March, when “Bodak Yellow” sold more than 10 million units, she became the first woman rapper to have a diamond-certified song. Nine months later, she’s celebrating her third diamond record, another song from the album: “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J. Balvin. (The second song to go diamond was her “Girls Like You” collaboration with Maroon 5).
“Wow I’m sooo happy!” she wrote on Instagram after her latest accomplishment. “My album came out in 2018 and it’s still breaking records. I have a solo [diamond emoji] record, a feature [diamond emoji] record and now ANOTHER [diamond emoji] record from a collab with 2 people that I look up to and love so much, @jbalvin & @badbunny! I remember like it was yesterday when this song went #1 and now it’s Diamond. I honestly just can’t believe this is happening! I’m so proud to have two songs off my debut album go Diamond. I hope I can achieve the same or even better on my next one. Thank you everyone that has supported and loved this record.”
