Rising Nashville R&B star Bren Joy has just released his brand new single “Friends” and tapped in with Kiana Ledé for the assist. The song arrives as Bren continues his country-spanning run opening for Pink Sweat$’ “Pink Moon” Tour. On the freshly released “Friends,” Brenglides over gentle guitar licks as he recites lyrics filled with confessional thoughts and sweet melodies:
Lookin’ at you where I’m standin’, I don’t think that we could ever be friends/ We play each other, that’s the way the game goes, I think it’s got to end, yeah/ I know I’m no good for you, but you pay it no mind, yeah and you know that you’re bad for me so
Why we keep tryin’? (Uh) but see, oh, no, nobody ever told me/ That you-you, you’d be pullin’ out the old me ’cause you know usually I’m not one to get around/
The new track is a follow-up to his “Headline” release from earlier this year. Back in 2019, Bren released his Twenties EP and then decided better late then never would be his approach to the deluxe version. He unleashed Twenties (Deluxe) earlier this year in March, which added seven new songs, including “Fiji Fine” and the fan-favorite Pink Sweat$-assisted “Insecure,” which has since racked up over 10M global streams.
So far in 2021, Kiana Ledé has given out some dope assists, including “Count Me In (Remix)” alongside THEY., Kitty Cash’s “Just Fine,” and Queen Naija’s “I’m Her.” She also landed on the recent Femme It Forward’s Big Femme Energy Volume 1. on the song “Cut Em Off.” She grabbed a major personal win a few weeks ago when she made her “dream collaboration” a reality with “Ur Best Friend” featuring Kehlani. The collab arrived with a storyline-driven music video as well that was co-directed by Kehlani.
Be sure to press play on Bren Joy’s brand new single “Friends” featuring Kiana Ledé.
